The loss of a brain trust produces a drain on knowledge. The father of Game Theory and mathematician has died. The tragic loss of a guru voice leaves the world with a knowledge gap that is unrecoverable.
Wife, Alicia Nash and John Forbes Nash Jr., the Princeton University mathematician whose life inspired the film “A Beautiful Mind,” and his wife died in a car crash Saturday, according to New Jersey State Police. Nash, 86, and Alicia Nash, 82, were riding in a taxi near Monroe Township when the incident occurred, State Police Sgt. 1st Class Gregory Williams said.”
In 1959, Nash began showing clear signs of mental illness, and spent several years at psychiatric hospitals being treated for paranoid schizophrenia. After 1970, his condition slowly improved, allowing him to return to academic work by the mid-1980s. His struggles with his illness and his recovery became the basis for Sylvia Nasar‘s biography, A Beautiful Mind, as well as a film of the same name starring Russell Crowe,” reported from Wikipedia.
The man known as Beautiful Mind will be loss to new thinking. He will be lost!
