The fabulous Julie Taymor is delivering her creativity discussing the drone effect. If Tyamor is not a household name you have either not experienced one of the greatest plays or missed some dynamic movies. The news of “Director Julie Taymor Steers A ‘Grounded’ Portrait Of A Drone Pilot” is premiering.
‘Grounded’ is inner life of drone pilot. The topic is on point as drones are continually discussed as privacy, permissions and battle tools. “Grounded — an intimate, political, one-woman show that seems to be the opposite of what the director is known for, which is spectacle.”
As said Taymor is prolific as she “was the creative force behind The Lion King, one of the longest-running and best-selling shows on Broadway.” Taymor as Director in Frida and her works in Titus are examples. of her artistic contribution.
I will leave out her play adaptation of Spider- Man as Taymor wishes to leave it in the past as she commented on NPR. I understand Taymor when people will not let things drop.
‘Grounded’ stars Anne Hathaway in the one person play. KRCC states, the “play the swaggering flyer obsessed with blue skies and destroying the enemy. After pregnancy and maternity leave take her out of the pilot seat, she’s reassigned to a different seat. Yes, she’ll be flying again, but, as she says to her husband, her new job has a catch.”
“Grounded‘s political content also marks a departure from Taymor’s previous work. “I somehow stayed with the classics and with other kinds of works and have never been asked to do a contemporary play, so this was fresh for me,” she says.”
This play is sure to be hit or worth viewing as Taymor’s creativity produces jaw dropping art onto the stage.
