As Chipotle has led the way in worker rights they have taken the next step. The first major consumer branded restaurant chain that say’s no to Genetically Modified Ingredients (GMO). Chipotle Mexican Grill on Monday is set to begin serving food with no GMO.
“This is another step toward the visions we have of changing the way people think about and eat fast food,” said Steve Ells, founder and co-chief executive of Chipotle. “Just because food is served fast doesn’t mean it has to be made with cheap raw ingredients, highly processed with preservatives and fillers and stabilizers and artificial colors and flavors,” reports in “Chipotle to Stop Serving Genetically Altered Food” by New York Times.
This is a major change to take the leap to provide foods with no GMO. The stand will produce a wave of reaction that can lead to change on healthy food. Further, Chipotle’s organizational change is leading the way to discuss slow food movements, GMO and what is means to have access to healthy foods.
