A look in to the new idea of freight transportation. Traditionally the view from your car window is the back and sides of the big 53 footer trucks that haul our commodities and supplies. The innovation of what is called a freight carrier is changing when “Ben & Jerry’s Uses Tesla Model S To Deliver Free Ice Cream & Activism“.
The Save Our Swirled campaign aims to convert 500,000 ice cream fans from pacifists to activists, with the Tesla Model S converted to carry up to 1,500 servings of delicious creamy confections at a time. Kia had a similar idea with its Soul EV ice cream van, but compared to the Model S it’s a little too… traditional (not something I thought I’d ever say about the Soul).
“In addition to the ice cream paint job, the modified Model S had its backseats stripped out to be replaced with three big freezer boxes, which will be used to distribute free scoops,” reports Fast Company. “In exchange, supporters can pledge their signature to Ben & Jerry’s and its partner Avaaz, the global-cause site that uses petitions to power its campaigns, in their fight to get global companies to eliminate their reliance on fossil fuels by 2050.”
“The “Swirled” tour will make its way through the country delivering free ice cream, with the first stop in San Diego during the first week of April. Look for it in San Francisco from May 8 – May 29.”
Companies no matter size can consider their carbon footprint and the environmental impact on their ecosystem. The idea of reforming transportation to manage greenhouse gas emissions and waste produces sustainable outcomes hitting the bottom and core operations. The simplicity of the collaboration between Ben & Jerry’s and Tesla are proof of changing models of sustainable approaches in work, environment and efficiency.
The challenge for the Blue Chip companies is to see innovation that produces new verticals in intelligence and processes that drive innovation and ROI in capitals (economic, intellectual and social). My charge at LANDSDS is to encourage new sustainable approaches that increase capacity of ideas and results. This is what will produce economic growth in an Intellectual Age.
