HERMES AWARD 2014 in Innovation

Who say’s innovation should be awarded? The impact of innovators designing and producing new technologies is being awarded in Germany. The announcement of the “The  Hermes Award 2014: Industry 4.0 and Smart Grid” is pushing the bar one innovation at a time.

The neXuses seeks to honor those who are making a difference in infrastructural development. The contributions of company’s can make a global difference in the way of energy, efficiency and economy.

HERMES AWARD promotes rapid implementation of new ideas into marketable products and processes. The coveted prize with an attractive PR package worth a total of about 100,000 euros honors an outstanding innovation, which will be unveiled at HANNOVER MESSE.

“SAG GmbH Bürkert Werke, KHS GmbH, Phoenix Contact, and: In a meeting chaired by Professor Wolfgang Wahlster, CEO of the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI), the following companies were selected for the Hermes Award from the independent jury Sensitec,” reports Elektronic Praxis.

The awardees this year for the HERMES AWARD:

Hermes Award for system monitoring of lightning strikes in wind turbines

Bosch Rexroth wins Hermes Award

Nominees Technology Award Hermes Award

Innovative drive concept for wind turbines from Voith Turbo awarded Hermes Award

Overview of Companies:
Bürkert Werke , Ingelfingen: The nominated product Flowave is a flowmeter for pipelines. In this case, the first surface acoustic wave used in a stainless steel tube without installations for the measurement of flow rate and fluid properties.

KHS GmbH , Bad Kreuznach was nominated with the product KHS PET INNOPRINT a method for digital container decoration. It allows the printing of PET beverage bottles using an innovative inkjet technology.

Phoenix Contact, Blomberg: With the product PROFI CLOUD Profinet fieldbus system is shifted to the cloud. Thus, the direct, simple and easy to integrate use of cloud services is possible, since data can be directly accessed by a cloud coupler from the SmartFactory globally. 

SAG GmbH , Oberhausen: The nominated product iNES is smart distribution grid management, with a conventional low-voltage network can be gradually upgraded to a smart grid. The modular, decentralized and autonomous measurement and control system platform consists of a decentralized network state detection involving distributed intelligent software agents.

Sensitec , Lahnau: He was nominated to the product line CMS3000 a family of highly dynamic and high-precision current sensors. It is based on a differential magnetic field measurement. Since the current to be measured flows through a U-shaped conductor, interference of external magnetic fields are eliminated.
