One or more snipers opened fire in April on a California power grid, knocking out 17 transformers that send power to Silicon Valley. A top former energy official claims the attack was terrorism. “Attack on California power station raises terror concerns” shares CBS News. They moved flow of energy to another site to maintain power. The FBI does not believe this was an act of terror. The Atlantic reports, “Before the attackers opened fire on the transformers, fiber optic lines running nearby were cut.”
Infrastructure is a prime target for terrorism and an energy security threat.
