As we approach the holiday’s it is a good time to reflect and get things in order for the new year. A great idea is to backup to ready for the new year and holiday. Do you receive friendly messages from friends on active viruses spreading or do your technology professionals spread holiday cheer with the latest festive worm. Don’t go into 2014 not backed up for the future.
The next step is to backup. No matter how big or small your organization especially personal files is to ready your systems for backup to plan for sustainability. As we discuss sustainability it is simply to prepare today for tomorrow including, files. Files are critical elements to that future as they are the memories and content that are necessary for planning, strategy and best practices. Further, data is apart of succession planning in which leadership can enable the transference of intelligence from the one-to-the-many.
The backup process can be a choice to be done internally or externally, based in the cloud. The ability to go low tech using flash drives, DVD’s and backup storage is one choice. One may choose to place data in the cloud to access content remotely and store for agile use.
What ever your budgetary and safety choices for storage, backup’s are the right choice as a holiday gift. Sustainable Thinking teaches that you do not miss something until it is wastes away, is unusable and/or depleted. Do not be hit by data doom and/or failures when you can remedy the majority of risk by backing up today for tomorrow.
Think sustainably and make choices that support your organization and your personal needs. Speak to anyone in tech and they will share that many fail to backup. The reason are the same when considering energy mix, food and infrastructure. These solutions have always been available, on average affordable and managed; and therefore, easily taken for granted.
Just as we overlook power, food and infrastructure it is wise not to overlook what we can take care of immediately to backup your data.
