The work of sustainability is blurred and the lines have not begun to be drawn conclusively that supports the conditions of sustainability optimized. The term is obliquely used that can distort its meaning as the work inclusion, empowerment, equality and leadership.  when words are used freely within an applied context colloquially the term begins to loose meaning. The work of sectors to integrate sustainable applications is evolving. The thought that “Sustainability Must Stand On Its Own Two Feet, Solidia Technologies CEO Tells Cement Leaders at CSI Annual Forum” is moving away from thinking competitive to its prime objective, collaborative and synthesized.

Fort Mill Times  reported, “Sustainability must stand on its own two feet,” declared Solidia Technologies® CEO Tom Schuler during a panel presentation at the annual forum of the WBCSD Cement Sustainability Initiative (CSI).  Solidia’s technology reduces the carbon footprint of cement and concrete products up to 70 percent.”

Schuler explained, “Sustainability is about competitiveness. Companies that don’t adopt sustainable technologies will struggle to compete, but those technologies must help generate profits—without relying on grants or carbon credits.”

The falsity that sustainability is about competitiveness is sensationalizes the process. Sustainability synthesizes and optimizes which leads t forms of competitiveness or innovation. The choice to become sustainable is work as was the utilization of Six Sigma, TQM, Quality and yet, Sustainability is deeper and engages at all levels across the supply chain. Further, there is no fix, sustainability is always in development- continuous improvement.

Industries such as, construction and cement and more are attached to its carbon footprint and emissions yet, the need to aid in this reality is nudging and pinging at all industries.

Cement, the critical binding element in concrete, is the world’s second largest emitter of greenhouse gas, responsible for approximately five to seven percent of global emissions. “A sustainable cement that has a smaller footprint but that doesn’t add value for concrete customers won’t get readily adopted,” explained Schuler. Concrete manufacturers do not feel they have a CO₂ problem, so sustainable technologies must offer higher value.”

Sustainable value can only be offered once its importance is realized and identified. The missing link in connectivity between the term and relevance to common everyday problem solving. The steps to sustainability is done once the gauntlet is engaged in toto organization.
