The power of connectivity is ever present and needed to conduct the basic form s of business. The process of staying connected for many seems common place yet, we live in a digital divide and bid data vacuum. The news that “UPDATE 1-Cisco, Facebook to work with businesses to expand free Wi-Fi use” is a sign of focus on big businesses need for customer access, satisfaction and to gain loyalty through predictive response to needs.
Reuters reported, “Cisco Systems Inc and Facebook Inc said on Wednesday they will work with big businesses such as hotels and retailers to provide free wireless Internet access to consumers who sign in using a Facebook log-in.”
“The companies have been testing the concept with smaller businesses for about a year but will work together to support bigger companies that want to improve customer loyalty or learn more about their customers through offering free Wi-Fi.”
Who are you liking now? Big brother is government but Facebook as well. The mined and access to relational data is not ambiguous for Facebook who know your like and dislikes. The ability to engage customers through Facebook is a marketing extravaganza and responsive tool to aid businesses in delivering current services to customers based on profiles.
“Cisco Chief Executive Officer John Chambers, in a speech at the Interop technology conference in New York, said the system would allow retailers to deliver tailored promotions or information to consumers who check in through Facebook when they arrive at a store. Cisco said some customers of its Connected Mobile Experience Wi-Fi technology are currently testing the system.”
“While Cisco is looking to sell network equipment, Facebook is joining arch-rival Google Inc in helping its users connect directly to the Internet, which increases the amount of time they spend on the companies’ advertising-supported websites.”
Jump to next generation technology as Google is on search to deliver Networks for online access with Facebook’s conscription to the mass market of follower data and Cisco’s data hard wiring is a nexuses of profound delivery of the big data gulp to customer interfacing that one can perceive as in your wallet or delivering high value. Your choice.
“Facebook is not funding the Wi-Fi effort, and merchants would pay for the network equipment and broadband costs. Earlier this year, Google announced plans to bring free wireless Internet access to 7,000 Starbucks Corp cafes across the United States.”
The big picture is being overlooked in which connectivity is relevant and supply-demand can be identified through this same or similar process to achieve sustainability aims that improve overall society, economy and efficiency for an dynamic robust ecosystem.
