What happens in our businesses is the profound nature that we are not present to understand what is happening and then asked to make decisions on this limited information. This dichotomy is taken to heart when Beth Comstock, CMO of GE states, “That if you do not like data then you will not like the future” is key to the nature of transactional business and relationships today. We are in the intelligence age where data drives.
Today, in calling my bank without providing my name my account was identified by my phone number. This transaction occurred within one minute. What is considered obvious may not be the remedy and the discrete choice may fall to another area of need that does not solve the issue. The answer may lie elsewhere.
Consider, the deliberate default in a decision and/or situation is to fall to our natural understanding creating an efficiency of fallacies distorting how or whom is to solve the problem. The goal of new thinking is seeking how to breakdown barriers and the discursive patterns and apply multiple brain power which I defer to as multidisciplinary in practice. The power of effective teams if they be high performing or not brings dialogue and agility to the art of thinking.
We can build a house with one window or a house with many which provides light and the ability to see out and in from varied vantage points. Ruby Lerner, founding President and Executive Director of Creative Capital said today, “Barriers across lines are breaking down.” These lines are across platforms, disciplines, economy and intelligence to deliver solutions.
The business of today is a collaborative effort to determine next steps that envision sustainable ecosystems. The leaders that see sustainable applications or ecosystems as fluffy foo foo are not managing the realities of today’s dynamics. The world decisions on power, productivity, healthy, jobs and education requires liberatory thoughts that connect and foster real world change. This too is the work of the entrepreneur in business, social foundations, arts and more. The entrepreneur is the mindset to change what is to what can be and shape opportunity to profit or possibility. The world needs active solutions to overcoming major milestones.
