The pursuit of sustainable education lies in developing new theories and methods in practice. The work of educators contributing to the linkages of student-teacher-family can support positive changes in the perception of the educational workspace.
From her extensive work in education she has delivered a book to aid youth and adults understand the nexus between education to achievement. The release of “I Can Hear You Now,” by Dr. Louise Byrd ” an educator for over 45 years brings insights delivered in the voice youth. She expressed “I have experienced that children want to do the right things. With the help of a responsible or mentoring adult, children can be led to achieve the goals that help to form and shape their lives,” stated Dr. Byrd. “I Can Hear You Now” offers a “profound opportunity for a child along with a mentoring adult to make a difference in their lives.”
Dr. Byrd states, “It takes a community to help students be successful in school and society.”
“This book is about two boys that discover how they can bridge the gap between them and their grandma. Things look quite chaotic until they come to the “meeting of the minds” and make plans to enhance their relationship. The story is told from a child’s perspective and is a fun- filled book for grade levels K-5. The end of the book engages the child and the adult to have meaningful conversations and to produce a product that can be used until the concepts are embedded into their lifestyle. The book serves as a tool that bridges the gap also between school and home. The principles needed in supporting a caring learning environment at school can also be implemented at home that empowers all parties.”
The evolution of education is dynamic and approaching new ground as technology, innovation and the world of work changes. Further, social dynamics mediated by the explosion of content, family and peers calls for new tools to support healthy development. When parents and guardians are aided in creating healthy developed children society benefits.
