Data security for most is not something many consider will happen to them. Typically, it is considered that cyber security is left to those in big companies or holding proprietary information to extort, assailing firewalls to hack and pack data for repurpose or the proverbial gotcha. The next in consideration is privacy which is not a consideration of size and/or economics but social justice and liberties. The address of “Lawmakers push for federal data breach notification law” is a matter of policy, privacy and public protections.
PC World noted, “Any federal law should not weaken strong state laws,” Representative Jan Schakowsky, an Illinois Democrat, said during a hearing of the Energy and Commerce Committee’s trade subcommittee. Any federal response should establish a baseline so that every American can be assured some level of data protection, not just notification after the fact.”
As the need to fortify the grid the protection of information in synchronous to overall security. The fact that living in a big data world can compromise the relationship between access, knowledge and security is a leading indicator of organizational change and systems complexity. The data security is not particular to a type but effects the entire supply chain, business models and sectors for aggregated domino effect.
“Others disagreed, saying a new federal law that doesn’t preempt state laws would create a 49th data breach regulation for businesses to comply with. A national standard would be “particularly helpful to small business, many of whom cannot afford teams of lawyers to navigate 48 breach standards, should something bad actually happen,” said Kevin Richards, senior vice president for federal government affairs at trade group TechAmerica.”
