Around the world the struggle of women to gain independence and power equity in wage, relationship and work is the struggle of years. Susan B. Anthony’s goal for liberations with Steinemism (Gloria Steinem) pushing further has not overlooked the world infrastructural stage. Globally women still have a “Long Road Ahead for Chinese Women’s Development” from the All-China Women’s Federation.
“The 4th Chinese Women Leadership Forum was recently held by the China Europe International Business School (CEIBS), discussing women’s development in leadership and how to balance women’s roles in career and family.”
“According to a report released by Diversity & Inclusion (D&I), it will take China 49 years to raise the proportion of female board members in China to 38 percent.”
“Women entrepreneurs and senior managers expressed their opinions on women’s leadership at the forum. Executive Vice President of the GE Commercial Aviation Services (GECAS) Liu Li pointed out that female senior managers need guidance and President of Merck Sharp & Dohme (China) Pan Bin said that leadership is a kind of attitude towards life and that women should attach more importance to the process instead of the result.”
We can look globally to site the significant reach of women in China. We may not turn to far to understand that women are still bound by certain strictures of work, attitude and often roles. Women are challenged economically to have equitable pay for the same work while women are becoming the most educated. The work of corporations can assist in repealing the acts of the past as the structures of EEOC can support national changes. These same national standards can be suggested practices enforced by the stick and the carrot. Active discourse on the global stage is the beginning for changing the lives of women. The ability to have informed empathy at work and home can start to improve the
lives of women.
