Again out of the mouths of youth and the integration of educational institutions are powering clean technology solutions and growing endowments. The developments of students is a win-win as they power innovation and universities gain patents to up their research quotient for financial and intellectual leverage.  The importance of “Students Invent Water Purification Disc” is key to saving lives as clean water is key to sustainability.

Voice of America touted the “Students at the University of Virginia have developed a new way of purifying water that they say could bring improved water quality for millions in the developing world.  It’s called a Madi Drop. The word “madi” means water in Tshivenda, a language of Limpopo Province in South Africa.”

The process seems simple yet the technology in its development is complex. The madi “when dropped in water, silver ions, which are atoms that have an electrical charge released to purify the water.  The students have created the MadiDrop – a ceramic disc infused with silver” Field testing begins this month in South Africa.

“Fifty women run a water filter factory, set up by the university in the province last summer.” The role of sustainability is to provide solutions that support the development of individuals, communities, and nations that support growth, environment, health, safety and the ecosystem for the long-term.

The quote of possibility is offered, “It’s not just about making a really great technology that effectively removes or kills bacteria and pathogens.  It’s about making a low cost, simple to use one, tailored to people in developing countries who don’t have many resources,” said Beeta Ehdaie, a doctoral candidate at UVA.”

The collaboration and advancement of partnerships can begin growth in new green and clean technologies that are supportive infrastructural solutions enhancing on the ground implementation that the big company models are stinted by risk, reward and returns. Universities are pushing technologies out and producing patents that in the long-term will change the model of school to work.

Techweek #Chicago presented by #Microsoft was a huge success! We are already planning for 2015 so get involved below now! CHICAGO/June 22-28, 2015 Who comes to #Techweek? #CEOs, #entrepreneurs, #innovators, and #dreamers meet at Techweek http://landsdssustainable.com/2015/05/07/techweek-in-june-coming-soon/ I heard a powerful story yesterday about the lives of #Veterans suffering in silence with #PTSD. The term is said so regularly that it can be over used while minimizing the trauma and impact on the lives of our soldiers. The article “How PTSD Became a Problem Far Beyond the Battlefield“ I support is worth reading. The article illuminates the lives of our service people from the point of view of a #soldier. http://landsdssustainable.com/2015/05/08/the-lives-of-soldiers-from-sebastian-junger/ The profound impact of social media is continually discussed. The ability to produce content by indexed writers can be captured and read less than a minute. The news of the #JossWhedon dropping Twitter will drive tweets across many platforms. For those who do not know Joss Whedon? Here his resume he is the “founder of Mutant Enemy Productions.
Smart and successful #socialmedia users need to understand the impact of words and #content. The ability to talk does not means you should. The ability to abstract yourself from the tone and tenure of a dialogue is hard and complex.

So when people feel the pain of social media kicking back it is hard to defend and stop. As fast as you comment and another surge of content is posted. It starts by thinking of your content before you push “SEND”.
When you “SEND” you might have to defend! http://landsdssustainable.com/2015/05/05/tesla-electric-in-used-car-sales/ The electric car becomes more accessible, Tesla the high price electric answer to acquiring their car. Tesls is now in the used car market. Now think electric! #Tesla used car is still mid-to-high end in price. The information from “Tesla is now selling used #electric cars for lower prices” is a step toward expanding the Tesla owner. This is a new organizational model for expansion and promoting electrics. http://landsdssustainable.com/2015/05/05/tesla-electric-in-used-car-sales/
